Pick up / set down bay: There is a ten minute set down area on Birt Way, approximately 50 metres from the front door. There is no kerb ramp to the adjacent footpath. External access: The accessible entrance on the corner of Birt Way and Adelaide Terrace has three steps and a 6 metre ramp. The ramp has a gradient of 1:20 with sufficient circulation space to accommodate all styles of wheelchairs. Main entrance: Level access through wide, glazed, automatic sliding doors. Foyer: Tiled and level throughout. Ample circulation space for all wheelchair sizes. A range of seating styles are provided throughout the foyer. Single seats are firm, have armrests and a seat height of 450mm. Reception: Counter is at standing height. Telephone: Public telephone is free standing within the foyer. The telephone is coin operated with push buttons and the highest operable control is 1210mm. A side approach would be required by a person using a wheelchair. Business Centre / Internet access: Computers are provided in the reception area and are on desks with knee access 570mm wide and 690mm high. Signage: The building has a large identification signage in good colour contrast with a serif font. There is minimal internal signage and staff assist as required. Information: Printed information produced by the hotel is in good colour contrast and an easy to read font. Accessible public toilet: Location: An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor at the end of a corridor and services the function rooms and the restaurant. Signage: There is no directional signage to the accessible toilet. The toilet has an easy to identify overhead sign. Entrance door: 850mm swing with a D style handle that is light to push and fast to close. When inside the toilet there is a 1020mm wide corridor and 900mm opening into the toilet area. The entrance door has a medium sized locking device. Pan height: 520mm. Basin height: 795mm. Lighting: A high switch inside the main entrance door.
Lift: A bank of two lifts opposite the main reception desk. Lifts are 1320mm x 1400mm, with a clear open door width of 890mm. Direction of travel information is displayed both externally and internally and there is no audible information. The highest control button is 1420mm with the emergency stop button at 1600mm. Accessible rooms: There are two accessible rooms on the fourth floor. Both have a similar set out, are spacious self contained suites and designated as non smoking. Light switches are at standing height. Emergency: There are audible alarms in all rooms with emergency egress maps at standing height. The emergency egress stairs are in close proximity and they a have standard sized landing. Corridors to rooms: Corridors are carpeted, wide and would accommodate all wheelchair sizes. Accessible rooms: Door: Door width is 930mm. The entrance swing door is of medium weight and is fast to close, with a circular door knob. Access into the room is suitable for medium to smaller wheelchairs due to restricted space around the external entry door. The entrance door opens directly into the spacious kitchen area. There are no peep holes in the door and access into the room is via a standard key. Kitchen: A wide open area with sufficient circulation space to accommodate all styles of wheelchairs. Bench height: 890mm Stove: there is a gas hot plate, located in the corner with a 300mm side reach to the controls.
Lounge: There is a separate sitting room with a television and couches that have a seat height of 420mm. Bedroom: Through wide double doors that can be held open. There is a queen and single bed within the room; however beds are moveable so a flexible arrangement is possible. Bed: The queen sized bed and single beds in the room are on castors. The queen is 560mm high with 115mm available space under the bed to accommodate a mobile hoist. The bed is firm. Bathroom: Door: 960mm wide swing door that is light to open. It has a circular door knob and exiting the bathroom could be suitable for smaller style wheelchairs due to the restricted space around the door. Pan height: 480mm high. Basin height: 780mm. Shower: Level access with a hand held shower and a height adjustable shower chair.
Suite facilities: Function Rooms: Guest Laundry: Located on level three with an entrance door that is 720mm wide. The laundry has good internal circulation space, has top loading washing machines and a front loading, floor mounted, dryer. Alternatively a laundry service is available. Adelaides on the Terrace: Seating: Tables are moveable, have a central pedestal and chairs have a seat height of 440mm and are without armrests. There is sufficient space for all styles of wheelchairs to move through the restaurant. Menu: Good colour contrast with 12 point font. Accessible toilet: Hotel public toilet on ground level.
