An Indian vegetarian restaurant on the upper level of the West Pavilion in the Barrack Square development. The cost to eat here is based on the philosophy of ‘Eat to your hearts content and pay what your heart desires’. Annalakshmi is owned by the Temple of Fine Arts (Inc), cooks are volunteers and any profits go towards medical services for the poor in India and Malaysia. It is alcohol-free. Accessible parking: There are two accessible parking bays either side of the central crossing point of Barrack Square. They are at footpath level, well signed and over four metres wide. Additional bays are a five-minute walk away to the Terrace Road ‘A’ Car Park where there are four accessible bays. The path from this carpark includes some poorly constructed kerb ramps and those unable to step up a kerb have to walk along the road for a short distance when coming out of the car park. Access from Barrack Square: Cross the square at the central flush crossing point to the river side and take the stairs or lift at the base of the Western Pavilion to the first floor. Specific lift information is in the West and East Pavilions. Entrance: The main entrance is level with a 770mm wide swing door that is light to open and slow to close. There is a slight lip on the inside of the door. Internal: There is space inside the restaurant for wheelchair users to move through. The self-serve tables are at sitting height, and tables and seats are moveable. Payment: Payment counter is at sitting height. Payment is by cash, credit or EFTPOS. Lighting: Natural light for daytime dining, well lit for night dining. Acoustics: Quiet. Signage: Minimal signage within the restaurant. Accessible toilet: At the time of writing, the accessible toilet within the restaurant was unfinished. There is a unisex accessible toilet on the ground floor in the corridor of the West Pavilion.
