Two-storey pavilions, housing cafes, restaurants and a function centre as well as open air booking counters for ferries and cruises. There are lifts leading to the upper level facilities. Between the pavilions there is a wheelchair accessible pier and departure point to the Shelley Taylor-Smith Ferry that travels to Mends Street, South Perth. Location: On the river side of Barrack Square leading directly to the piers. The east pavilion is between piers 2 and 3 and the west pavilion is between piers 4 and 5. Summary: Pedestrian access: Access to the Pavilions and jetties is available for all; refer to Barrack Square information for specific details of access from the city and across the Square. Accessible parking: Two accessible bays are available within Barrack Square; further bays are a five-minute walk away to the Terrace Road ‘A’ Car Park that has four accessible bays. Booking counters: These can be seen from the footpath, are in the open air with good weather protection. They can be accessed from street level by steps, level access or gentle slopes depending on the direction of approach. All counters are at standing height. Cafes and booking offices: Those at street level have flush thresholds with wide doors held open during trading hours. Cafes are open at lunch times, and the Annalakshmi restaurant on the upper level of the West Pavilion is open for night dining. The Bells function centre is on the upper level of the East Pavilion. Both have unisex accessible toilets. Information: Signage is clear and there are several large maps of the local area on the river side of the Square. Lifts: Both Pavilions have a lift which provides access to the restaurants / function facility. Lift car size is 1200mm x 1980mm with a door width of 900mm. External controls are free of obstructions and positioned 950mm high. There are two sets of internal controls, each at 950mm - 1150mm high. There is visual information both internally and externally and there are verbal announcements inside the lift. West Pavilion toilet The toilet is located at the back of the pavilion along a wide corridor (1600mm). There is a short, steep ramp with a gradient of 1:10 (5.7 degrees) at the west end of the corridor, with alternative level access at the east end. There is no directional signage to this toilet which is located in the external, rear corridor. There is poor passive surveillance of this area.
