Citiplace Community Centre

A community centre for people over the age of 55 as well as people receiving a disability pension. The centre offers meals (breakfast and lunch), refreshments, information, activities and interest groups, hair dressing and podiatry. Two conference rooms are available for hire.

 Level access through automatic doors, good circulation space throughout and handrails along the corridors.
 All signage is well located and easy to read.

Location: Concourse level of the Perth Train Station.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

Cost: Entry to the centre is free, services and meals attract a subsidised cost.

Accessible toilet: A unisex accessible toilet is provided within the centre.

Signage: Directional signage to the centre is large, easy to read and in good colour contrast.

External access: Direct access off the concourse level of the train station. There is sufficient circulation space approaching the centre to accommodate users of all wheelchair sizes.

Main entrance: Double, automatic opening swing doors, which open outwards. Wide entrance.

Internal: Foyer, sitting area, hall and corridors to rooms are wide and sufficient to accommodate users of all wheelchair sizes. There are handrails along the corridors. Seats are provided throughout the centre. They are of a standard height (430mm) and are firm to sit on with armrests.

Level access throughout the centre. The large dining hall has surveillance cameras.

Reception: Is at standing height.

Information: A variety of information pamphlets are available at the reception counter and in a free standing brochure stand (at a high reach).

Equipment: Some mobility equipment is available for hire, for use in the Perth CBD area only. Equipment must be returned when the shops close. A $20 deposit is charged on presentation of a Driver’s Licence, $40 without. Costs are as follows:
 One four wheel scooter is available for hire at $2.60 an hour
 Four manual wheelchairs (large wheels at the back so that the user can self propel if required), at $6.50 a day

Unisex accessible toilet

Signage: There is directional signage to the accessible toilet. The signage is large, has good colour contrast and displays the access symbol.

External access: The path of travel through the community centre to the toilet is wide, barrier free and level. There is sufficient space for a large wheelchair to be manoeuvred through to the toilet.
Toilet door: The 800mm wide, manually opened sliding door is light to open and has a D style handle and large snib.

Pan height: 500mm

Basin height: 850mm

Lighting: Light is on at all times.
