Pick up / set down bay: A universal drop off bay is located on Murray Street outside of CityMart oriental store across the street.

External access: Wide ramp with a 1:6 gradient leads from Murray Street to the lift foyer of API House. The ramp has a central handrail.

Main entrance: A set of double automatic sliding doors are located at the main entrance. A stainless steel hand rail guides the pedestrian from the main entrance to the reception counter located on the right hand side.


Foyer and reception:
The reception foyer is large with tables, chairs and low lounges. A video / DVD hire area is located opposite the main reception desk and wheelchair access may be restricted due to retail standing displays.

The reception desk and café counter are at standing height. Restricting access to the café counter is a large, deep retail display, located between the reception desk and café. Access to the café counter may be restricted by the lounge furniture that occupies this reception area (members lounge).

Lift: Two lifts are located outside the gym in the API building lift foyer. External controls are 1380mm high and internal controls 1560mm high. Both illuminate when pressed, and no visual and auditory information is provided. Exercise equipment may obstruct the first floor lift door.

Services and equipment: Personnel include personal trainers, massage therapist, dietician, and physiotherapist. Equipment provided includes cardio, RPM, and weight-training.

Signage: There is some overhead directional signage, but it may be difficult to read as the dark lettering is contrasted on clear Perspex, which may be reflective.

Information: TV’s/ videos do not have captioning. Clear, easy-to-read labels are provided on gym equipment.

Internal (ground level):
Level entrance to the gym Cardio and RPM/ spinning equipment on the ground level. Wheelchair access may be difficult as there is limited circulation space between the gym equipment. Separate locker rooms are located towards the rear for men and women. The male locker room entrance is 850mm wide; the female locker room entrance is restricted by the locker system.

Internal (first level):

All weight-training equipment is on the first level, along with some low-seating lounges. There is ample circulation space and wheelchairs can generally access all areas including the equipment areas. The offices for the Gym manager, personal trainers, massage therapists, and dieticians are situated opposite the stairs. There is a very large group fitness room towards the rear of the gym with a 760mm wide entrance door, and good circulation space for all wheelchair types. There is a sink at sitting height opposite the group fitness room.

Sauna / Spa (ground level):

Access is via a 1200mm wide ramp with gradient of 1:9. The ramp is located on the left hand side of the gym from the gym entrance. The main entrance door leading to the sauna, spa and unisex accessible toilet is labelled ‘showers’ and is 890mm wide. A second swing door, which is 880mm wide, leads to the sauna / spa. Both swing doors are light to open and fast to close, with a D handle.

There are four steep steps, with a handrail on the left hand side, up to the spa pool. The pool is set above the ground.

The wooden sauna door is 780mm wide. Inside the sauna is bench seating, 460mm high. The ‘on’ switch for the sauna is located outside the sauna door and is set at 1220mm high.

Unisex accessible toilet and shower:
One unisex toilet/ shower/ change room is located on the ground level of the gym. Access is via the ramp that leads to the sauna / spa room.

Internal: Wide circulation space suitable for all wheelchair types
Door: Manual swing door, light to open and fast to close, with D handle and large snib
Pan height: 440mm. Basin height: 780mm

Shower:

Level access, with hand held shower hose that is height adjustable and mounted on a vertical grab rail

Shower seat:
Moveable plastic chair that is not height adjustable.

Seat height is 420mm
