St Andrew's Church

Location: Corner Pier Street and St George’s Terrace.

 Arrangements need to be made to drop off at the front of the church as there is no accessible parking on site.

Accessible Parking for people with disabilities:
There is no accessible parking onsite.
The closest accessible parking areas are:
Council House (CPP) (2 bays)
Kings Complex Car Park (Secure Parking) (4 bays)

Pick up / set down bay: No designated set down area. Discuss with church if parking arrangements need to be arranged.

Closest public transport:
 St George’s Terrace is the main thoroughfare for buses passing through the City
 Red CAT stop 12 and 13 on Hay Street
 Blue CAT stop 4 on Barrack Street

Closest accessible toilet:
Town Hall toilets on Barrack Street.

External access: The main entrance off St George’s Terrace has a flight of steps with handrails.
The side entrance off Pier Street is level and accessed via a gate that is kept open during opening hours. The access symbol is displayed on the gate.

Accessible entrance (side entrance off Pier Street): A manually opened set of double swing doors. One wide door (1580mm) is held open during opening hours. The doors are heavy to open and fast to close.

Internal: There is room through the church for a large wheelchair to be manoeuvred, there are no barriers. The church slopes gently down toward the front altar and the floor surface is polished wood, and some carpet at the altar. There are 5 steps up to the altar; the lectern is at 5 steps up above the congregation area.

Seating: There are no designated wheelchair seating areas, but there is space at the side of the church as you enter through the side door. Seating in the church is wooden pews. A wheelchair is provided at request.

Information: A microphone is used during services, and speakers are positioned along the sides of the church.

All printed information and signage is in good colour contrast, however the font is small to read.
