General Post Office (Forrest Place)

Location: Pedestrian access off Forrest Place.

Summary:

 Shop displays restrict circulation space, within the Australia Post shop

Facilities: An Australia Post shop and Main Hall.

Opening hours:
Monday to Friday 8am to 5.30pm
Saturday 9am to 12.30pm

Pedestrian access: Access from Forrest Place via steps or two ramps (either end of the building) both three metres long with a gradient of 1:12 (4.6°).

Main entrance: Main door is one metre wide, is held open and leads to a large entry foyer.

Australia Post Shop: On the left hand side of the Post Office from the main foyer with level access and a wide entrance. Moveable displays may obstruct access inside the shop. The queuing aisle is 1200mm wide and counters are standing height with two metres of circulation space directly in front.

Information: There is no "Better Hearing Card" on display.

Counter service operates on a visual system with an overhead LED displaying a flashing arrow and counter number when an attendant is available. The counter number behind the available assistant also lights up when available.

Queuing positions have large easy to read signs.

Main hall: A large quiet room is located behind the Australia Post shop with level wide access. The desks in the room are 760mm high with adequate wheelchair knee space.
