Access to foyer: Level access. Main entrance: Level access through glazed, automatic opening doors. Foyer: Low pile carpet and tiles. Ample circulation space for small and large wheelchairs. Lounge seating is provided in the foyer. The seats are soft with a seat height of 360mm. No armrests. No writing desks in the foyer. Reception: Standing height. No ‘Better Hearing Card’ on display. Signage: Signage is clear, easy to read and has good colour contrast. Lift: A bank of three lifts. Lift three provides greatest circulation space. Access to the basement (pool) is available via lift one only. Lift three is 1460mm x 1430mm, with a clear open door width of 980mm. Direction of travel information is displayed both externally and internally, and there is a verbal announcement of the floor level inside and a tonal announcement outside. All buttons are within a range of 900mm - 1200mm high. Corridors to rooms: Corridors are wide, accommodating larger wheelchairs. There is a gentle slope leading from the lifts to the rooms at 1:30 (2.2 degrees). Emergency: A place of refuge for wheelchair users is provided at the landing of the fire stairs. Rooms: Access into the room is suitable for a small wheelchair only due to restricted space around the entry door (obstructed by closet and narrow internal corridor – 870mm). There is sufficient circulation space within the room, with 1200mm to each side of the double bed and 800mm at the base. The flooring is low pile carpet. Tea and coffee making facilities are located in the closet (in internal corridor) and a side approach would be required for wheelchair users. A small lounge area is located within the bedroom. Tub style chairs with armrests and a seat height of 420mm are provided. A double bed in the room is on castors, it is 480mm high
and there is 135mm available space under the bed to accommodate
a mobile hoist.
The closest accessible toilet is located on the ground floor, through the Seven 88 Bar / restaurant. Seven 88 Bar / Restaurant: A bar and restaurant open for lunch and dinner located on the ground floor of the hotel with both inside and alfresco dining. The bar is high / standing height with no lowered areas. There is circulation space within the bar / restaurant area for a small wheelchair. Tables are moveable and provide knee clearance. Additional information about the Seven 88 Bar and the Level One Restaurant is available. Pool: Located in the basement and accessed by lift one (lift on the left). Lift one has a clear open door width of 820mm and the lift car is 1650mm wide and 1140mm deep. The 820mm wide access door to the pool has a high lever handle (1500mm) in order to comply with safety requirements and a swipe card set at 1300mm. The door is heavy to open. The pool is a ‘roman bath’ style and access into the pool is via a ladder. Access could alternatively be achieved by sitting on the pool edge (510mm high and 790mm deep). Guest Laundry: Located on level 3. A small wheelchair could gain access to the laundry through two heavy doors, across a stair landing. Doors are 860mm wide. The laundry has good internal circulation space, two top loading washing machines and two front loading, floor mounted driers. No payment required.
