King Street

King Street is a one-way vehicular roadway located between Hay and Murray Streets with a pedestrian footpath on both sides. This street has numerous retail outlets, services, cafes as well as the King Street Art Centre. The King Street precinct is close to His Majesty’s Theatre.

 Barriers such as signs and pot plants along both building lines
 Steps to most retail shops

Public Transport: There are Red CAT bus stops on Murray Street (stop 29) and Hay Street (stop 18/ His Majesty’s).

Universal Drop off Bay: There are three 15 minute universal drop off bays in the street that would be suitable for cars and taxis.

Accessible parking: There are six accessible parking bays located at His Majesty's Car Park on Murray Street.

Streetscape: King Street gently slopes up from Hay Street to Murray Street. There are sections of cobble stones across the footpath. There are no kerbs between the footpath and vehicular roadway, the separation consists of a cobbled spoon drain. The footpaths are wide. Signs, alfresco seating and pot plants create barriers along the building line. The vehicular roadway is narrow and one way from Hay Street to Murray Street.

Retail: Due to the heritage nature of King Street, access into most retail shops and services is up at least one step, at some shops there are several steps.

Cafes: There is a range of eateries in the upper section of King Street (Murray St end).

KING STREET CAFÉ:
Open 7am until late. There is a high (170mm) step at the wide, main entrance door. No alternative accessible entrance.

ETRO CAFÉ:
Alfresco dining on King Street. The street side take away counter is very high (high standing level). The main access has a step however level access into the lower level is via a side sliding door off the pedestrian access laneway to the King Steet Art Centre. This will need to be opened by a staff member. Level access into the upper level is via the narrow (770mm) rear entry door.
Unisex accessible toilet is located behind Etro Café, off the cobbled side access way. There is no directional signage.

Unisex Accessible toilets: The closest accessible toilet is behind the Etro Café. There is no directional signage and access is via the cobbled vehicular / pedestrian access way next to Etro Café (leading to the King Street entrance of the King Street Arts Centre).

Alternative toilets are in His Majesty’s Car Park - level one and ground floor.
