King Street is a one-way vehicular roadway located between Hay and Murray Streets with a pedestrian footpath on both sides. This street has numerous retail outlets, services, cafes as well as the King Street Art Centre. The King Street precinct is close to His Majesty’s Theatre. Summary: Public Transport: There are Red CAT bus stops on Murray Street (stop 29) and Hay Street (stop 18/ His Majesty’s). Universal Drop off Bay: There are three 15 minute universal drop off bays in the street that would be suitable for cars and taxis. Accessible parking: There are six accessible parking bays located at His Majesty's Car Park on Murray Street. Streetscape: King Street gently slopes up from Hay Street to Murray Street. There are sections of cobble stones across the footpath. There are no kerbs between the footpath and vehicular roadway, the separation consists of a cobbled spoon drain. The footpaths are wide. Signs, alfresco seating and pot plants create barriers along the building line. The vehicular roadway is narrow and one way from Hay Street to Murray Street. Retail: Due to the heritage nature of King Street, access into most retail shops and services is up at least one step, at some shops there are several steps. Cafes: There is a range of eateries in the upper section of King Street (Murray St end). KING STREET CAFÉ: ETRO CAFÉ: Unisex Accessible toilets: The closest accessible toilet is behind the Etro Café. There is no directional signage and access is via the cobbled vehicular / pedestrian access way next to Etro Café (leading to the King Street entrance of the King Street Arts Centre).
