This hotel is located in the West End of Perth, near King Street and His Majesty’s Theatre. It has three accessible rooms, a restaurant, conference and meeting rooms with wireless broadband facilities. Rating: 4.5 star Accessible parking: Valet parking provided with a drop-off area located at the front of the hotel on Hay Street. Hay Street is one way and the hotel can be approached from the William Street (eastern) end of Perth. There is direct, level access from Hay Street into the hotel foyer. Accessible street entrance: Direct, level access from Hay Street into the hotel foyer through wide, glazed, automatic opening doors. Foyer: The floor is tiled throughout. The surface is shiny. All wheelchair users should have no difficulty moving through the foyer. A lounge area in the foyer has a collection of lounge chairs surrounding a coffee table. The chairs are firm and have armrests. The seat height, when compressed, is 400mm. The reception counter is at standing height. No ‘Better Hearing Card’ on display. Brochures are located at a low height. Signage: Signage is clear and easy to read. Verbal announcements are made in emergency situations only. Lift: A lift is provided to all floors. This lift is 1570mm x 1510mm, with a clear open door width of 900mm. Direction of travel information is displayed both externally and internally. There are no auditory announcements. External buttons are 1160mm high and free of obstruction. Internal controls are between 800mm - 1250mm high. Corridors: There is a very spacious lobby located outside the lifts on each floor and hotel corridors are wide. Emergency: Audible and flashing alarms are provided in the accessible bedrooms. Audible emergency alarms are provided throughout the remainder of the hotel. In an emergency verbal announcements are also made. Emergency egress maps are located at standing height and would be high for wheelchair users. The hotel is rectifying this situation. A place of refuge is provided on the emergency stairwell. All accessible rooms are adjacent the emergency exits. Signage: All signage is well located, easy to read and understand. Rooms: Accessible rooms are located on floors 2, 3 and 4. Although there are no adjoining rooms, rooms directly opposite the accessible room can be allocated for carers. Entrance: The rooms have a level entrance with a heavy-to-open swing door with lever handle. The room is accessed by the standard key card and there is a large snib to lock the door internally. The door has a clear open width of 740mm and there is 330mm clearance on the latch side of the door. This circulation space may limit independent access for users of larger style wheelchairs. The room has low pile carpet. Tea / coffee facilities: Tea and coffee facilities are located inside a cupboard at the foot of the bed. The kettle is low to the ground at 350mm above the floor. A side approach would be required. Lounge: Seats are clustered around a coffee table (which could be removed to increase space). The seats are firm, with a compressed seat height of 420mm. Bed: A queen-size bed with castors is provided in all accessible rooms. The clearance under the beds is 120mm which may not accommodate the legs of a standard mobile hoist. When sat on, the bed is 520mm high. All light switches, the TV remote and air conditioning controls are located at sitting height. There is 1000mm clearance on both sides of the bed, and 900mm at the end of the bed. There would be sufficient circulation space for a small to medium sized wheelchair. Some larger power chairs may have difficulty moving through this room without re-arranging furniture. Bathroom: The bathroom door has a clear open width of 770mm and a small threshold ramp at the doorway. Conference facilities: Located on the first floor. CBD Restaurant: The restaurant has direct access off the foyer and has a bar, accessible toilet, TV, buffet breakfast for hotel guests and restaurant / café dining including alfresco dining. Table service is provided and staff are available to assist with self-serve breakfast if required. When advanced notice is provided menus can be printed in A3 size.
