Green Star building plan supported
15th Jun 2012
The City of Perth welcomes the release of the Green Star - Communities tool by the Green Building Council of Australia.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi says the suite of Green Star tools produced by the Green Building Council, in partnership with the development industry, will give building designers and the construction industry necessary tools to deliver best practice for the buildings of tomorrow.
“The introduction of the communities tool is a logical next step in guiding the sustainable development of Australian cities at the precinct level,” Ms Scaffidi said.
“As a member of the Green Building Council of Australia since 2007, the City supports the leadership shown by the development industry in finding practical solutions to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
“The City of Perth is using this approach in building its new library in Cathedral Square, which is being designed and built to 5-star green star standard.
“The City’s Key Worker Housing project in Goderich Street, East Perth, is also being built to achieve a 4 star Green Star designed, and as-built, development. "
