On Street Parking

On-street parking is now standardised citywide. As part of making Perth an easier place to live, work and visit, the City of Perth adopted the On-Street Parking Policy that provides a consistent, well-managed system for short-stay users.

The new approach leaves the on-street parking for people who seek the convenience of a quick, easy parking solution and encourages people who are in the area for longer periods to use one of the long-term bays in Perth’s parking stations.

The vitality of businesses depends on easy access for short-term visitors. Kerbside parking is ideal for this kind of use and the key is to keep the bays turning over, so there is one available when a visitor needs it and this will also reduce traffic circulating in the area looking for parking.

The new on-street parking restrictions commenced in the CBD in August 2009 followed by Northbridge in March 2010, East Perth in October 2010 and West Perth in February 2012.

Clearways in Perth CBD
Maintaining access to, from and within the city is a major challenge for thousands of commuters travelling through Perth's CBD each weekday.

Clearways are key roads within the CBD that have been designated as 'no stopping' zones during specific times of the day to help traffic flow freely and safely.

They provide an additional traffic lane during peak periods, which helps move traffic more efficiently through the CBD during these especially busy times.

Clearways operate from 7.30 am to 9.00 am and 4.15 pm to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, which means there is no stopping or parking in Clearways during these times. Clearways do not operate on Saturdays or Sundays.

A useful 'Clearways Locator Map' is available from the Main Roads WA website.
