The City of Perth Access Maps show you how to get around and provides useful information on accessible features such as accessible public transport and parking, toilets and easy access walking routes through the city.

Accessible City
The City of Perth is a very accessible city for all people including people with disabilities. It has pedestrian friendly streets and public spaces designed according to universal design principles. Continuous accessible paths of travel link public transport, parking, retail, business and entertainment areas.
Streets
These incorporate kerb ramps, tactile indicators and in the central area crossings have audible signals. The shopping malls and arcades are accessible and provide seating, shade and accessible drinking fountains. Cafes also provide outdoor seating.
Buildings
Major public buildings, arcades, post offices and most churches, and theatres are accessible.

Hotels and restaurants
Details of the accessibility of a number of hotels and restaurants within the City of Perth Central Business Area (CBD) are available on the You’re Welcome WA - Access Initiative website. The People With Disabilities WA website provides some information on accessible accommodation in Perth and country areas. It is advisable to telephone regarding accessibility.
Toilets
Accessible public toilets are located throughout the City. In the central area, the City of Perth facilities at the Citiplace Rest Centre (Perth Railway concourse) and Barrack Street near the Perth Town Hall provide convenient services.
Other accessible toilets are located in semi-public buildings such as the State Library, Art Gallery, bus stations, Carillon Arcade, Allendale Square, Barrack Square and stores such as Myer, Woolworths and David Jones. Getting Around & Transport

Buses
CAT buses provide a free, frequent and wheelchair accessible bus service in the city, operating on red, blue and yellow routes. The Free Transit Zone (FTZ) allows you to travel on other buses within the City of Perth boundaries, without paying a fare. Conditions apply to non-SmartRider ticketholders.
Trains
Transperth staff is available to assist wheelchair users to access metro trains. To guarantee assistance when required, Transperth requests that one hour advance notice of boarding and alighting details are given.
The Free Transit Zone (FTZ) allows SmartRider ticketholders to travel free between the Perth Railway Station and the City West and Claisebrook stations. Conditions apply to non-SmartRider ticketholders.

Ferry Terminal
The ferry from Barrack Street Jetty to Mends Street Jetty (South Perth and the Perth Zoo) is accessible for wheelchairs and scooters. The Coode Street Jetty (South Perth) is not accessible.

Wheelchairs and motorise scooter hire
Available at nominal rates from the Citiplace Community Centre, Perth Railway Station Upper Level between 8:30 and 15:45 on weekdays. A $20 deposit and proof of identification are required. Bookings on (08) 9325 3264 are advisable.
Parking
Reciprocal ACROD parking rights exist for interstate and overseas visitors for up to 3 months. Only vehicles displaying a current registered ACROD permit are entitled to park in bays reserved for people with disabilities. For longer or permanent stay contact:

Street Parking
The City of Perth provides ¼ P Accessible pick-up and set-down bays (15 minute limit), identifiable by blue lines and clearly signed using the international symbol of access. In general parking areas, ACROD permit holders have concessions equivalent to twice the time specified on the parking sign e.g. 1P means you can stay for two hours. After the purchased time expires, ACROD permit holders may remain for the same time again at no extra cost. These concessions do not apply for disabled parking bays, clearways, bus zones etc. The City has also introduced wheelchair accessible Universal Bays, to be used by everyone. These are wider longer bays which provide wheelchair access to the footpath.

City of Perth Car Parks
City of Perth provides two hours free parking in car parks for people with a disability who hold a valid ACROD permit. If an ACROD permit holder is parked in a car park with Pay and Display Ticket Machines, they must purchase a ticket, and display it on the dashboard. The ticket will remain valid for a further two hours, after the expiry time.
If an ACROD permit holder is parked in a multistorey car park where they are issued with a token/ticket at the entry boomgate, the driver will need to redeem their free parking by visiting the Customer Service Office prior to exiting the car park. The Customer Service Officer will need to sight your permit and will also collect any monies owing for parking in excess of two hours.
Where a Customer Service Officer is not in attendance, ACROD permit holders will need to pay the full fee, and obtain a refund for the free two hours by sending their receipt and a legible copy of their permit to Council House at 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth, WA 6000.
ACROD permit holders can park in any non reserved bay within a car park and still receive concessions, thus leaving the extra wide bays for those who need them.
Accessible bays are marked with blue diagonal lines with signage displaying the international access symbol.

City of Perth Library - located in the lower level of the Law Building, 573 Hay Street (east of the Town Hall), has excellent library resources including alternative formats such as large print, audio cassettes and supertext videos. The library has a CCTV for enlarging text for small print documents. A computer with large screen and keyboard as well as a brailling machine are also available. Ask the friendly library staff for assistance or call (08) 9461 3581. The Red CAT bus stop (Town Hall East) is located outside the Hay Street entrance.
Citiplace Community Centre is a unique, accessible central city facility provided by the City of Perth to seniors and people with disabilities. Services include meals, refreshments, podiatry, hairdressing, meeting rooms, information, wheelchair and motorised scooter hire and accessible toilets.

Safety in the City
The City of Perth is a very safe city by world standards, monitoring a network of 135 CCTV cameras in the central area and Northbridge manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some car parks also have security camera surveillance.
There are emergency communication poles in the shopping malls and Northbridge with push button direct communication to the Citywatch Police Post . Two late night supervised taxi ranks operate in Northbridge at weekends from 11pm - 4am.
