The City of Perth first established a Code of Conduct in 1990, with the last update being in 2017 to reflect changes in legislation and new transparency and accountability measures.

 The Code of Conduct is designed to:

  • assist Elected Members, Committee members and employees in maintaining the highest standards of conduct and behaviour; and
  • attract the highest level of confidence from Council’s stakeholders.

In addition to setting out the Principles, the Code also outlines:

  • other conduct definitions under the Act, such as those relating to misuse of position, improper direction, breach of confidentiality and conflict of interest; and
  • City of Perth values and ethical principles.
