Our iCity volunteers host the information kiosk in the Murray Street Mall and assist visitors to the City of Perth by offering  information, direction and guided tours to make their ‘city experience’ interesting, easier and memorable.

Due to the popularity of the iCity volunteer program we currently have a waiting list of applicants.  We are not currently accepting any new expressions of interest at this time. 

The role of our iCity volunteers:

Providing a friendly welcome and positive experience by:

  • Answering questions and providing directions to visitors to the central city area, operating from the iCity kiosk
  • Presenting a positive image of the City of Perth
  • Ensuring information provided to customers is accurate and of a high quality

We ask that our volunteers

  • Commit to our program for at least 12 months
  • Be prepared to work at least two four hour shifts per month
  • Attend a two day training session upon commencement
  • Attend follow up training

Selection Criteria

To become an iCity volunteer you should:

  • Have knowledge and an interest in the central city area and the importance of Perth as  capital city    
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Have a reasonable level of fitness and mobility
  • Be at ease with face to face communications
  • Have and regularly use your own email address
  • Have an understanding and experience in using social media
  • Have an ability to work unsupervised

Our iCity Volunteers have the following desirable skills

  • Have worked in a customer service role either paid or voluntary
  • Understanding of the importance of tourism and hospitality services
  • Experience as a guide conducting and managing group tours
  • Currently studying tourism, hospitality, marketing or events
