Widely known as the former Salvation Army Headquarters, the building is one of the most visible heritage buildings in Perth, and is located in the East End Improvement Model area.
Chair of Commissioners Eric Lumsden, said the building is considered a prime strategic site that could deliver a marquee heritage improvement outcome for the East End.
“Under the restoration plans, work will be carried out to repair cracks to the façade, refurbish brickwork and tuckpointing, as well as remediation of the render bands and corbelling,” Commissioner Lumsden said.
“The $82,750 grant is part of a $165,500 upgrade which will help facilitate work to improve the vitality and visual appearance of the building.
“The grant is consistent with the matched funding guidelines, which aim to improve the visual appearance of heritage buildings and ensure they are well preserved into the future.”
