The City of Perth Library app allows users to access their City of Perth Library account from their Apple or Android device, making it simple to search the catalogue, renew or reserve books and download eBooks.

Trialled over the last eight weeks, the app has now been downloaded around 300 times.

The app also enables users to scan the barcode of a book while browsing the shelves in a bookshop, and determine if it is available to borrow from the City of Perth Library.

Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said the app added another layer to the Library experience for its patrons.

“Libraries are at the forefront of innovative use of technology to improve the customer experience,” Commissioner Lumsden said.

“Our online resources mean members can access books, magazines, movies, music and films just by using a library card and PIN.

“By creating this app the City of Perth can offer the high standard of service and technology that patrons expect from a capital city library.”

The app was designed by Solus and can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store.
