Officials for West Coast Fever are expecting a record sell-out crowd for this Sunday’s Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final, providing an economic boost to city businesses.

Sponsored by the City of Perth, the Fever won the right to host the premiership decider against Sunshine Coast Lightning, giving them a strong advantage through the support of a parochial home crowd.

Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said the Fever’s biggest crowd to date is 9,700 with Sunday’s game expected to attract around 13,000 spectators.

“An event of this magnitude brings with it great economic benefits to businesses in Perth and it’s a fantastic result to have the Grand Final played at Perth Arena,” Commissioner Lumsden said.

“Economic modelling shows the estimated 13,000 strong crowd will inject more than $1 million of direct expenditure impact into the local Perth economy.

“This includes accommodation for interstate supporters, dining and entertainment - resulting in a grand final coup for city hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants.

“Of course first and foremost, the City of Perth wishes West Coast Fever the very best of luck in their quest for an inaugural premiership.”

Perth landmarks will also light up in green over the weekend to support the Fever, including Perth Concert Hall, Perth Town Hall, Elizabeth Quay, Yagan Square, Trafalgar Bridge and Brookfield Place.
