Yes, if your cat is over 6-months old. All pet cats in WA need to be sterilised, microchipped and registered with their local council by the time they reach 6-months. There is a fine if you do not register your cat – see Cat Act (2011)

Registration Periods

Registration periods are fixed each year starting on 1st November and ending on 31st October. This means that all 1-year, or 3-year registrations expire on the 31st October each year. You can register your cat at any time, however note that a 1-year registration will not provide you the full year’s cover but will expire on 31st October. To account for this shorter period your fees will be halved to $10.00 (Inc. GST) if you register after 31st May.

Registration Fees

You can register your cat for 1-year, 3-years, or for life. The fees for each are set by the WA State Government. If you have a WA Seniors Card, or Pensioner Concession Card you are eligible for discounted rates. 1-year Registrations made after 31st May will only have to pay half the standard fee.
