The grants aim to support businesses to improve precinct amenity, stimulate economic activity and provide direct benefits to the wider community.

Chair of Commissioners Eric Lumsden said the program is a clear example of the City’s commitment to supporting local businesses and encouraging growth in the economy.

“Small and medium businesses represent the majority of all enterprise within the City of Perth, and it’s important to create opportunities for these businesses to thrive,” Mr Lumsden said.

“The Business Improvement Grants Program will match funds of up to $20,000 from successful applicants to recognise the invaluable contribution businesses make to the local economy.

“Grants can be used for vital improvements such as façade and awning upgrades, retail fitouts and the activation of underutilised space.

“The ability to generate new ideas and turn those ideas into profitable business ventures is a critical source of competitive advantage for Perth, and in the current climate we want to support local enterprise more than ever.”

Applications for the 2018/2019 Business Improvement Grants program will be accepted until 18 June 2018.
