The organisations behind PrideFEST, RAC Christmas Pageant, IGA Carols by Candlelight and Perth Chinese New Year will receive the funding to assist with the operation of their upcoming events.

Together, these events attract a combined audience of 260,000 people to the city.

Deputy Chair of Commissioners Gaye McMath said sponsorship funding was essential to encourage diverse events and projects within the City of Perth.

“The City has a long history in supporting these four events and notes the contribution they make to Perth’s vibrancy, as well as cultural, social and economic outcomes,” Deputy Commissioner McMath said.

“These events strengthen the community, improve wellbeing, and encourage people to visit and enjoy what our capital city has on offer.”

PrideFEST 2018 will be held from 2 to 26 November and the event will be a combination of community, performance and arts events culminating in the annual Pride Parade in Northbridge.

The RAC Christmas Pageant will celebrate its 46th year on 1 December and feature 20 floats with more than 2000 local performers, cultural groups, marching bands and dance groups.

“The Pride Parade will activate the streets with vibrant activity and increase visitation to local businesses,” Deputy Chair Commissioner McMath said.

“The Christmas Pageant is a regular family event on the Perth Christmas calendar and it forms a key part of the City’s Christmas campaign.”

This sponsorship forms part of the 2018/19 City of Perth budget.
