The City of Perth is calling on the public to provide feedback to its draft Outdoor Dining Policy and Guidelines, in an effort to determine business and the community’s desire for alfresco dining.
Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said outdoor dining should contribute to the creation of inviting public places for the whole community.
“The City conducted a survey in mid-2017 to see what people and business wanted in alfresco dining,” Commissioner Lumsden said.
“A working group reviewed survey responses and created a new outdoor dining program that addressed feedback such as lower fees, longer licenses and reducing red tape.
“Now with a new draft policy and guidelines, the City is seeking comment from the public on the proposed changes.
“The City aims to support businesses that contribute to street life and vibrancy, improves the public realm and ensures a point of difference from our inner city and suburban neighbours.”
The public consultation period is open until 5pm Friday 21 September 2018 and feedback will be considered in determining a new Outdoor Dining Local Law.
