Hosted by the City of Perth, the event is a platform for knowledge sharing and networking, as well as recognition of excellence in award categories for Concierge, Front of House, Volunteer Host and Inbound Tour Operators.

Deputy Chair of Commissioners Gaye McMath said the Perth Tourism Industry Exchange was an opportunity for the tourism sector to engage at a grassroots level by exchanging information, sharing knowledge, networking among peers and experiencing operators’ products.

“The Perth Tourism Industry Exchange is a great way for businesses to connect, learn about their counterparts and hear from Australia’s premier tourism body – Tourism Australia – to explain how they can be involved with Tourism Australia’s marketing, campaigns and events,” Ms McMath said.

“City of Perth initiatives such as the Perth Tourism Industry Exchange complement a broader emphasis on Western Australian tourism, such as the State Government’s recent announcement of $425 million over five years for destination marketing and event tourism in the 2018-19 Budget.”

For the first time, participants were invited to training sessions facilitated by Ryan Mossny (Two Feet and a Heartbeat) and Andy Lamb (Innovation Studios). The sessions, which generated positive and constructive feedback, focused on business development, innovative thinking and face-to-face networking.

At last year’s event, Phil Walleystack launched his unique, culturally inspired sleepwear brand ‘Jinda’ with a fashion parade.

Tourism Australia’s Kristy Carstairs (Industry Relations Manager for WA) will be at the event to connect with industry and explain how businesses can be involved with Tourism Australia’s initiatives.
