The autumn events calendar kicks off with the highly anticipated return of the Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival. Now in its third year as a month-long event, this festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich and diverse heritage of Boorloo (Perth). Running throughout April, the festival invites you on an exciting journey through the city’s remarkable history. From cultural celebrations like Buddha’s Birthday, the Nepali Festival, and the Djeran Fair, all of which showcase the City’s vibrant multicultural community.

A true highlight of this year’s festival is the celebration of the Maali (Black swan). One of the key attractions is Mamma Maali, a towering 4-metre installation, which will nest at Elizabeth Quay. Acclaimed Nyoongar artist Justin Martin will bring Mamma Maali to life through a live art installation from 15 to 17 April.

Continuing with the swan theme, One Thousand Origami Swans for Telethon draws inspiration from the Japanese tradition of Senbazuru—folding 1,000 cranes to make a wish. It’s a wonderful chance to learn how to create your own origami swan whilst supporting a fantastic cause. Our origami swans will be displayed alongside Mamma Maali at a family-friendly event on Sunday 27 April.

For even more fun, take a free spin on a swan pedal boat, or dive into the ‘Swanning Around’ Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll explore the city for hidden swans and solve clues for a chance to win exciting prizes. Grab a scavenger hunt map at the iCity Kiosk and make it a memorable day for the whole family!

Don’t miss the Government House Open Day, where families can step back in time and explore the incredible heritage-listed building. The day is packed with fun, featuring live music, entertainment, and interactive displays that will make Perth’s history exciting for kids of all ages.

No visit to the city is complete without a trip to Kings Park. This year, the park offers a range of activities for nature lovers and families. From the Naturescape Family Day to a hands-on planting workshop, there's something for everyone. You also can enjoy the beauty of the park during a twilight walk or get involved in the Eggucational Egg Hunt – an Easter egg hunt with a twist.

With so many activities on offer and plenty of them free, there’s no better place to spend your Easter break than in the City of Light.

From cultural experiences to outdoor adventures and creative workshops, Perth is bursting with opportunities to make lasting memories these school holidays. Whether you're a local or a visitor, these events are sure to make your Easter unforgettable.
