Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said sponsoring the event greatly aided the City’s vision for Perth as a progressive and connected city.

“As an internationally-recognised event, TEDxPerth gives industry thought-leaders a platform to share knowledge and ideas, as well as encourage cross-industry collaboration,” Commissioner Lumsden said.

“It is a privilege to support the gathering of Perth’s finest thinkers and doers, while also offering assistance to a leading volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation.

“TEDxPerth in turn assists the City by helping to spread ideas from Perth to a global audience, while encouraging an open and engaged city.”

TEDx talks and events are held all over the world and the Perth conference has grown into the second largest TEDx event in Australia.

This year’s event features a curated program of 16 speakers, presenting their ideas to an anticipated capacity audience of 1,700.

It will be live-streamed and, after the event, the presentations will be professionally edited and available online.

Two speakers from previous TEDxPerth events, Hamish Jolley (2013) and Natasha Hurley-Walker (2016) have been featured on the main TED.com website, and their presentations have been viewed over 3.7 million times.

TEDxPerth will be held at Perth Concert Hall on Saturday, 3 November.
