Targa West Road Closures

Sections of James Street and Lake Street will be closed on Friday, 23 October for the Make Smoking History Targa West Tarmac Rally.

The closure will allow 70 competition cars to gather in Northbridge so competitors and the public can enjoy the city’s dining, cafes and businesses.

James Street will be closed from William Street to Mountain Terrace and Lake Street from Francis Street to Roe Street from 6pm to 10pm, with parking restrictions to apply from mid-afternoon onwards.

To reduce impact to businesses in the area, parking concessions will be made to allow delivery vehicles to access and park in the area until the actual road closure time.

The final day of the Make Smoking History Targa West Tarmac Rally will also result in road closures on Sunday, 25 October from 5am to 10pm.

Affected locations include:

  • Victoria Avenue, from Terrace Road to Riverside Drive
  • Governors Avenue, from Riverside Drive to Concert Hall Car Park
  • Terrace Road, from Governors Avenue to Victoria Avenue
  • Plain Street, from Riverside Drive to Terrace Road (western lane only)
  • Riverside Drive, from Plain Street to Barrack Street Jetty

The Terrace Road Car Park in front of the Concert Hall will also close from 12am to 10pm.

Terrace Road however will not be closed from Victoria Avenue to Plain Street, and the Concert Hall Car Park will remain open.

Targa West has approval from WA Police and the City of Perth for the closure of these roads.

The Targa West Tarmac Rally offers free motorsport activity throughout the city and beyond.
