The City of Perth has announced its annual month-long food and beverage celebration Eat Drink Perth will move from March to April in 2014 to coincide with the inaugural Taste of Perth festival occurring in the first week of May.
City of Perth Council has approved an event partnership with Taste Festivals Australia, organised by Brand Events Australia (Margaret River Gourmet Escape) to facilitate the popular Taste food festival’s debut in Perth, capping off the City’s own annual festival of food culture and culinary discovery, Eat Drink Perth.
Perth’s biggest food festival, the silver medal winning tourism event Eat Drink Perth, will celebrate its tenth year in 2014; while Taste started ten years ago in London and has since grown to present festivals in 18 cities throughout the UK, Europe and Australasia, including Sydney and Melbourne.
Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said bringing the two events together was a very easy decision.
“These two events represent 36 days of absolute heaven for foodies, restaurant lovers and chef-groupies,” the Lord Mayor said.
“Eat Drink Perth has always presented the very best of what Perth’s food and beverage producers have to offer. Now Taste, an international festival, will sit alongside that as the big finish to our month long event and elevate Perth’s premier taste makers (and consumers) to that next level.”
Together these events promise amazing food prepared by the City’s greatest and newest restaurants; world famous chefs and delicious local produce; superbly crafted beverages and outstanding entertainment in both indoor and outdoor locations.
Eat Drink Perth is all about highlighting Perth’s newest and best places to drink and dine, and will include the return of popular showcase events Yum Cha in the Park as well as special editions of the weekly Twilight Hawkers Market and Perth Home Grown farmers market in Forrest Place.
The title of Perth’s Best Barista is expected to again be hotly contested in the Eat Drink Perth Coffee Competition, while the Guilty Pleasures Film Season returns to Northbridge Piazza, along with a host of new 2014 events soon to be announced.
Registrations are now open for City-based participants as well as those outside the City limits planning food and beverage offers, events or activities within the City of Perth boundaries for April 2014. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a registration form.
