Message from the Lord Mayor of the City of Perth

Australia Day is our nation's special day and is truly an occasion for celebration. Some of the characteristics which make us special as a nation are revealed in the words of our uniquely Australian national anthem, which we sing with such pride on 26 January.

This year's Skyworks has a special focus on Advance Australia Fair and the beliefs and values that its words embody.

In its now 26-year history, Skyworks has become our big annual celebration.

This year we can promise another dazzling pyrotechnic and sound spectacular, but there is also a deeper significance to the event. It's about us all coming together as one, no matter how different we are as individuals or in terms of our backgrounds. It's also about showing respect for one another, so everyone can enjoy the day.

Skyworks is a celebratory recognition of our Australian culture, particularly our music. Music can be a unifying force and this year's Aussie soundtrack is sure to stir your spirits and make you want to sing!

The City of Perth is proud to present Skyworks, which is the nation's biggest celebration of Australia Day. Its enduring popularity says much about our national pride.

There will be a variety of community events happening on Australia Day, including citizenship ceremonies and awards, family entertainment on the foreshore and parklands, the new Too Solid Music Festival and an exciting air display over the Swan River.

This informative website has all the information you need to plan a memorable Australia Day in the city. I invite you to join us in these celebrations!

The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor
Ms Lisa Scaffidi
