Booking an Event in Forrest Place or the Murray Street Mall
The use of Forrest Place or the Murray Street Mall is managed by the City of Perth Marketing Unit.
A wide range of activities are held at these locations, ranging from major events and community activities to product sampling or promotions.
For all proposed activities within these areas approval from City of Perth Marketing must be sought.
Forrest Place has one event site and includes the use of the city square area, bounded by the steps.
Murray Street Mall has three event sites which include;
• Kiosk event site
• Lift Tower event site
• Myer event site

Event Applications - Procedure
1. Application
Applicants are required to submit a Marketing Event Application Form to use the Forrest Place or Murray Street Mall areas. The Marketing Event Application Form can be obtained from the City of Perth Marketing Unit, (08) 9461 3368. Submission of a Marketing Event Application Form does not grant immediate approval.
NB: A minimum of eight weeks lead-time is requested for all promotional event and activity applications due to the large number of requests received.
2. Review of application
The Marketing Event Application Form must contain specific information relating to the proposed dates, times, outline, content, performers, equipment, power requirements, infrastructure, etc. The application is dependant on the availability of space and the event content.
3. Approval
If approved, the applicant is advised in writing and issued with an approval permit. The approval permit will outline the approved activities and any conditions associated with the approval permit.
Applicants are advised that site fees apply to the use of these locations and a tax invoice will be forwarded with approval permit.
Sampling Activity Application - Procedure
Companies wishing to distribute free sample size products to members of the public must apply to conduct sampling activities through the submission of a Marketing Sampling Application Form.
Sampling activities may be approved at designated event sites in the Forrest Place and Murray Street Mall areas.
1. Application
Applicants are required to submit a Marketing Sampling Application Form to use the Forrest Place or Murray Street Mall areas. Once completed, <Marketing Sampling Application Form> must be sent to the City of Perth Marketing Unit by facsimile (08) 9461 3368. Submission of a Marketing Sampling Application Form does not grant immediate approval.
A minimum of four weeks lead-time is required for all sampling applications.
2. Approval
If approved, the applicant is advised in writing and issued with a Sampling Approval Permit. The approval permit will outline the approved activities and any conditions associated with the sampling permit.
Sampling applications with a food component must also be reviewed by City of Perth Approval Services - Environmental Health.
Information on the application relating to the proposed sampling activity is forwarded to an Environmental Health Officer for review.
A site fee applies and a tax invoice will be forwarded with the sampling approval permit.
3. Conditions
• Approval is dependant on date, availability of space and sighting of product.
• Sample products must meet all Environmental Health Standards.
• Items must be of sample size only and cannot be purchased in a retail outlet.
• Items must be sealed packaging.
• Organisations cannot distribute outside the store of a direct competitor.
