Settlement/Land Purchase Queries
Property Settlement Enquiries are usually requested by Settlement Agents or Solicitors acting on behalf of the vendor or purchaser of a property soon to be settled.
A purchaser may also act on his/ her own behalf by forwarding a letter of request.
To obtain this information, the Settlement Agent must be acting on behalf of;
- the current property owner; or
- person(s) who have signed an intention to purchase the property; or
- person(s) who have written authorisation from the property owner to conduct the enquiry
The fee for this service is $105.00 and the information is forwarded within 7 working days.
The Property Settlement Enquiry will determine the following information:
- The value of rates levied
- Outstanding rate payments
- Refuse charges
- Zoning
- Orders or requisitions
- Details of Residential Building Approvals exceeding $10,000 in value
- Land resumption orders or requisition

Archive Services
Archive Search
Plans for buildings prior to 1994 located in the City of Perth, Town of Cambridge, Town of Vincent and Town of Victoria Park are held by the City of Perth. To view the building plans of a property, you must contact your local council for an "Archive Search".
If you require access or copies of plans held in the City of Perth's Archives, you will need an "Archive Search".
How to request Building Plans/ Archive Search
If your property is located within the City of Perth, simply complete an Archive Search Request Form and forward the completed form to us with the prescribed fee.
Within 7 days of receiving your application, files relating to the requested address will be withdrawn from archives and you will be invited to view the building plans. Plans cannot be removed from the office, however, photocopies can be arranged once plans have been viewed. The City of Perth cannot guarantee that the requested plans are held in storage and, in the instance that your search is unsuccessful, the application fee is non refundable.

Historical Property Search
A Historical Property Search extracts information from the City of Perth's archive files relating to the issue of Building Licences. Information can include:
- Date Building Licence issued
- Estimated cost of construction
- Description of building eg: 6 storey office building
- Name of Architect/Builder
- Copies of Building Licence or Certificate of
- Classification
A Historical Property Search does not include the viewing of building plans. To request this additional service, an application for an Archive Search should be made.
If your property is within the City of Perth, simply complete a Historical Property Search Form and forward the form, along with the fee of $21 per property.
Within 7 days of receiving your application, the requested information will be researched and a letter of reply mailed to your address. Please note that the City of Perth cannot guarantee that the requested information is available and in the instance that your search is unsuccessful, the application fee is non refundable.

Specific Document Search
Searches to extract a specific document related to a building approval e.g. copy of a building license, sign license, planning approval, public building certificate, or council report/minutes. Plans are not withdrawn.
Within 7 days of receiving your application, the requested information will be researched and a letter of reply mailed to your address. Please note that the City of Perth cannot guarantee that the requested information is available and in the instance that your search is unsuccessful, the application fee is non refundable.

Written Planning Advice
Applicant's requiring more detailed planning information should download and complete a Written Planning Advice Application Form.
This is a separate process and additional service to the Specific Document Search.
It can provide the applicant with detailed information related to a historic or potential application, noting details such as the floor area, plot ratio, parking numbers, etc.
The request must be clear and to the point. Within 7 days of receiving your application, the requested information will be researched and a letter of reply mailed to your address. Please note that the City of Perth cannot guarantee that the requested information is available and in the instance that your search is unsuccessful, the application fee is non refundable.
