Television Black Spot Program
Perth East Area
What are television blackspots?
Televison blackspots are areas where a clear transmission signal can be affected by geographic obstructions. This issue is often solved using a television translator, which rebroadcasts the local television services into the blackspot. In some instances, a blackspot area can be too far from an existing transmitter to rebroadcast the local services, and in those cases the situation may require rebroadcasting of services via satellite.
Through funding received from the Commonwealth Government, as part of the Television Black Spots Program (TVBSP), the City of Perth provides improved reception for areas affected in the Perth East area.
This information addresses changes that may be required for your television antenna, TV and VCR, to receive these television services.

SBS-46, ABC-49, Seven-52, Swan-55 and Ten-58.

Sheraton Hotel, 207 Adelaide Terrace, PERTH.

What do the television services achieve?
The television services aim to resolve any reception problems in your area. The City of Perth is responsible for the installation, on-going operation and maintenance of the facility.
Will I need to retune my TV and VCR?
Your TV and VCR may need to be retuned to receive the television services. This should be a relatively simple procedure. All TVs and VCRs come with a handbook that will give step-by-step instructions on how to retune them. You may also need to retune the channel used to connect the VCR to the TV as that channel may have been used for one of the new services.
If you have difficulties in retuning your TV or VCR you should contact your local TV serviceman for help.
If you have any difficulties with the television signal, please contact the City of Perth, not the television network as it is the City of Perth that is responsible for the quality and reliability of the new services.
For further information about the new services, please contact City of Perth Corporate Support on 9461 3202.
