Commercial Cardboard Recycling

A cardboard recycling service is currently offered for free to commercial properties within the City of Perth who utilise the City’s general waste services (Green Bin).

Cardboard recycling can be offered on a regular pick-up schedule or as required. For further information please contact us (see link at top of page).

Larger cardboard boxes should be flattened and, in most circumstances, stacked neatly and placed adjacent to the Green Bin, NOT leaning against the bin.  Special arrangements may be required in some locations.

The following conditions apply to the Commercial Cardboard Recycling Service:

  • Cardboard must be clean, that is, there must be NO plastic, bubble wrap, styrene foam, or other rubbish in or amongst the cardboard.
  • Cardboard must be neatly flattened (not torn up or crushed) as it is manually carried to the recycling truck.
  • Cardboard must be neatly stacked.
  • Access to the cardboard should be free - bags or other items should not block the way.
  • This is a 'bulk' cardboard pick-up for boxes that do not fit into a recycle bin. Small items, shoe boxes and six pack holders, should be put into a recycling bin.

Street Cleaning

The City operates an intensive nightly street cleaning operation from Hill to Milligan Streets East to West and from St Georges Terrace to Aberdeen Street South to North.

Daytime street cleaning in the Central City is carried out using small mobile mechanical cleaners.  Areas outside the Central City are cleaned using ride on mechanical cleaners and all areas are cleaned weekly.

The City has developed a high pressure cleaning process which incorporates a fine water spray.  This enables stains and spillage to be removed without creating any discharge into the storm water system.
