While retailers have been busy stocking their shelves in anticipation, the City of Perth has been tirelessly preparing more than half a million Christmas lights and 550 individual decorations, including a new 12.5 metre walk-through Christmas tree in Murray Street Mall.
The long-awaited Christmas Lights Trail will be back again, with spectacular animated lights, festive decorations and lively projections brightening malls, streets and parks across the city.
With two new illuminated trails to follow including accessible features, it’s easy for visitors to create their own journey on any night in the lead up to Christmas.
To celebrate the launch of the Christmas Lights Trail and to get a glimpse of the new Christmas tree, visitors can head to the city on 16 November for boundless festive entertainment, the Twilight Hawkers Market, Perth Maker’s Market and of course, Santa and his sleigh.
“The City of Perth is proud to present a festive program of free activities which invites anyone and everyone to experience the wonder of Christmas in the city,” City of Perth Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said.
“As the streets and malls fill with cheer, the city is lighting the way with non-stop celebrations, events, shopping and activities for the whole family.”
Major crowd-pleasing events including the RAC Christmas Pageant, Symphony in the City and Christmas Nativity will return, keeping up nostalgic Christmas traditions.
Sponsored, community and retail partners have undeniably played an important part in lighting up the city with such festivities.
