Supported by Screenwest, the free film showcase will run from today until Sunday 7 April, and boasts a range of Western Australian films.
City of Perth Chair Commissioner Eric Lumsden said he hopes a local film showcase becomes a regular part of the City’s arts and entertainment calendar.
“The City of Perth is proud to support opportunities for the community to experience locally-produced films on the big screen,” Chair Commissioner Lumsden said.
“Showcasing these movies at the Northbridge Piazza is a great way to support local filmmakers.”
Along with the film Three Summers, the opening night program will feature recently digitised heritage footage from the State Library of WA archives.
The Friday and Saturday evening programs will screen a number of short films with the closing night’s feature, Dingo, to be accompanied by Jazz songstress Libby Hammer in a pre-show performance.
Screenwest CEO Willie Rowe is delighted to see WA films being championed.
“WA creatives have been capturing amazing stories on film for generations and we are thrilled to see this local showcase activating our inner-city,” Willie Rowe said.
