After extensive consultation with key stakeholders including business owners and residents, its final location has been chosen for its ideal proximity to attractions and businesses.

Deputy Chair Commissioner Gaye McMath said the new public toilets are designed to be the City’s first standalone facility, with its own solar power and tank.

“The foreshore along Mounts Bay road has seen a steady increase in visitation over the past few years, with many tour buses and self -driven visitors stopping in the area for photos,” Deputy Chair Commissioner McMath said.

“The new public toilet facility has been designed with the surrounding flora in mind, while also remaining robust and of simple built form.

“This new public toilet will make visiting the Blue Boat House and it’s surrounds a more pleasant experience for tourists and visitors.

Construction is anticipated to begin in June, with the new public toilets expected to open in October.
