Pier Street Car Park Retail Enhancement

The urban landscape around Pier Street is poised for a revival, thanks to a retail enhancement project underway at Pier Street Car Park.

The retail frontages at the Car Park have been underutilised for some time, contributing to the tired urban surrounds.

The enhancement project will modernise the retail space, completing construction works to change the layout to accommodate a brand new ground-floor single tenancy. The works will also see a modern raised façade canopy installed that elevates street appeal.

Think of an enlivened streetscape, bordered by large inviting windows that boost safety and draw in students, visitors and residents.

Alongside the uplifted retail space, the project will deliver an upgraded car park lobby area, and a cutting-edge transformation of the Car Park’s basement storage area into a private eleven-bay car park for premium private parking.

What’s in store for the new tenancy space?

The City has already secured an exciting new tenant who will set up shop in the new space once construction is completed.

Entering the brand new single tenancy space will be the Australian Institute of Language and Further Education (AILFE). Through their vocational culinary program, AILFE will transform the space into a bustling hub of culinary activity, including a café that will be open to the public.

What is the current status?

Construction commenced on 30 June 2025. Project updates will be shared as they come to hand.

The City will work to keep disruptions to a minimum but some noise should be expected during the period of works.
