Switch Your Thinking have launched an Energy Efficiency Pilot Program which will run throughout 2025. Energy audit kits are available for loan from more than 100 libraries and Community Resource Centres across Western Australia.
The City of Perth Library has one kit available for loan.

The Energy Audit Kit can be borrowed by City of Perth library members on the following conditions:
- The kit is to be borrowed from and returned directly to staff at the City of Perth Library. A staff member will check all equipment and contents prior to the kit being loaned and check it again when it is returned.
- The kit can be borrowed for a maximum 7 day period and cannot be renewed.
- Anyone who borrows the kit must read and agree to the Conditions of Use Declaration.
- You must be 18 years or older to borrow the kit. Children aged between 8 – 18 years old may use the energy audit kit under the direct supervision of the person borrowing the kit.
- To achieve the best-possible auditing results, it is highly recommended that borrowers go to Switch Your Thinking for full instructions on how to use the kit.
The kit can be reserved via the catalogue.
The kit includes:
- A thermal imaging camera to help you locate draughts around your home and gaps in insulation, for checking fridge seals, and measuring hot water temperature.
- A plug-in energy monitor for measuring energy consumption and the running costs of appliances.
- A basin flow measuring cup to determine the water flow rate of your taps.
- A thermometer for measuring the temperature of rooms, fridges and freezers.
- A document case containing an energy audit kit instruction manual and other useful resources.
