Emergencies

The City has an Emergency Management Strategic Plan in place to deal with emergencies, should they arise.

If you are personally concerned about a developing situation the WA Police should always be your first port of call. If you require local police assistance call 131 444, or for life-threatening situations call 000.

To make the city aware of emergency situations call our CCTV Surveillance Centre on (08) 9461 6666.

Emergency Management Strategic Plan

The City of Perth has developed the Emergency Management (EM) Strategic Plan for 2017 – 2021 in consultation with the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC), which sits under the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC), the Minister for Emergency Services and the State Disaster Council.

Purpose

The purpose of the plan is to layout the responsibilities and processes to follow, under four focus areas:

  • Prevention
  • Preparedness
  • Response
  • Recovery

Residents' Preparation Tips

Emergency response is everyone's responsibility. In an emergency situation, while there are dedicated bodies such as the State Emergency Service, WA Police to act as first responders, residents need to be aware of their surroundings, prepare and keep as safe as possible.

Make a plan

Have you ever thought about how prepared you'd be or how you'd react if the city had:

  • Major power outages
  • Interruptions to vital utilities - e.g. water, electricity, gas
  • Major infrastructure damage
  • Natural disasters

There are a number of things you can do to prepare your family physically and mentally for disasters, starting with writing down your very own plan!
