The CIP sets out the long-term vision for how the City will plan and development community infrastructure over the next decade.
It aims to:
- ensure community infrastructure keeps pace with population growth and changing community needs
- support places that bring people together to strengthen social connections and improve wellbeing
- focus future investment on flexible, shared-use facilities that support a range of activities and make the best use of available resources
- prioritise improvements to existing facilities and address gaps in neighbourhoods that currently have limited or no community facilities
- guide future investment decisions based on community needs, population growth, available funding and evidence.
Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the CIP would provide an important framework for planning the facilities and spaces the city will need into the future.
“As Perth grows, we have an opportunity to shape a city that is not only more prosperous, but more connected, inclusive and liveable,” he said.
"Community infrastructure is about more than buildings. It's about creating places where children play, neighbours meet, communities celebrate and people feel they belong.
"This Plan will help guide how we invest in those places over the next decade, and I want our community to help shape that future.
"Whether you live in the city, work here, study here or simply enjoy spending time in Perth, your voice matters. Together, we can build a capital city that continues to grow while remaining connected, welcoming and full of life.”
