Deputations

A deputation is an individual or group from the community who present an issue of concern to the Elected Members, which is within the power of the City of Perth to consider. Deputations are heard at Agenda Briefing Sessions and Special Council Meetings only.

What you need

Deputations are heard at Agenda Briefing Sessions, which are held one week prior to an Ordinary Council Meeting. Deputations are also heard at Special Council Meetings. A deputation request form must be received by midday on the day of the Agenda Briefing Session. To submit a deputation, complete the online form.

Eligibility requirements
  1. Deputations are heard at Agenda Briefing Sessions and Special Council Meetings only.

  2. Requests for a deputation shall be received no later than 12.00pm on the day of the Agenda Briefing Session.

  3. Deputations must relate to an Item on the meeting’s Agenda.

  4. Deputations must not exceed 5 minutes.

  5. Group deputations are encouraged (no more than 5 persons, of which only 2 people may address the meeting).

  6. Council members will be granted the opportunity to ask questions of the spokespersons at the conclusion of the deputation.

  7. Debate is not permitted.

  8. Respect to the Council is to be shown at all times.

  9. The Presiding Member has the right to decline the request.
