The City of Perth Library is a community space where everyone is welcome.
Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm
Saturday: 10am to 4pm
Sunday: 12pm (noon) to 4pm
Public holidays: closed
There is no parking just for the Library, but the closest car park is next to Council House on St Georges Terrace. You could also walk from the Pier Street car park.
By train, the Library is about a 15 minute walk from both the Esplanade station or the Perth Underground station. The Red Cat bus stops at the Town Hall which is close to the Library on Hay Street.

- Using your membership card to borrow items or use Library facilities.
- Complying with any reasonable request from Library staff.
Borrow, renew and reserve

You can borrow up to 20 items.

Items can be renewed three times, if the items are not overdue and/or have not been requested by someone else.
You can place a reservation on items currently on loan or on the shelf.
You can place reservations or renew items via the Library catalogue, at the library, by phone or via our online catalogue.
If the item you need is not listed in the City of Perth Library catalogue we can attempt to borrow the item on your behalf from another library on inter-library loan.

Your Library card
Your Library card must be presented for all City of Perth Library transactions.
If you think you have lost your Library card, or if it has been stolen, please let us know as soon as possible to avoid fraudulent use, and so your card can be replaced.
Replacement cards are available for a nominal fee and confirmation of identity.
Fees and charges
The Library charges fees for meeting room and venue hire, copying and printing, and for very overdue items. See all charges (Library fees are on page 109).
Computers, internet and WiFi
Use of the computers is free. All users must agree to our Computer User Agreement when logging in.
Members of the City of Perth Library may have up to 60 minutes of Library computer use per day. Please ensure you bring your Library card with you.
Non-members may request a guest pass to use the public computers for up to 40 minutes per day.
The Library has ten express computers on the ground floor, for quick access. Express computer sessions last for up to 20 minutes.
Internet and WiFi
Free wireless internet access is available to everyone.

There is a download limit of 400MB within a 24 hour period and users are required to agree to the Wireless Conditions of Use when using this service.
Printing and copying
Printing is available from the public computers.

We ask that you use paper supplied by us at all times to avoid paper jams.
Colour and black & white copying is available.
The City of Perth Library welcomes people with limited mobility and disabilities.
Library staff can help people with a disability to look at and borrow items in the library, if you would like assistance during your visit please ask one of our friendly staff.
The Library offers a range of items suitable for vision impaired people including:
- Reading aids like magnifying glasses and magnifying sheets.
- Large print books.
- Audio books.
Want to borrow from the Library but can’t come in due to illness, injury or a disability?
If you are a resident of the City of Perth and are permanently or temporarily housebound, we can deliver Library items right to your door. We visit regularly and can make the selection for you.
Friendly staff will discuss your preferences with you and keep you updated on new stock. Choose from our wide range of books, DVDs, Blu-ray, audio books and magazines.
This is a free service for residents of City of Perth local government area.
